Shopping for a new appliance or planning a home improvement project? Wondering if there is an energy efficiency rebate available? A handy new web tool from Silicon Valley startup Ennovationz could help your dollars stretch a little (or a lot) further, and it’s extremely easy to use.
On the Ennovationz website, you just type in your zip code and it will list all of your local energy efficiency rebates. You can check out how it works for yourself here:
Savings range from $25 to over $1500, depending on the item and the local programs that are in place. Over 140 rebates are listed for the Massachusetts town shown in the example below:
Ennovationz’s goal is to help connect consumers to their best green and energy efficient providers. The company has a database of over 8000 incentives — tax credits, state programs, utility rebates, subsidized financing, and more — offered by 750 providers nationwide.
The Ennovationz website also has a compare-my-bills feature, which can help residents figure out if their energy bills are out-of-line with similar homes in their area, as well as personalized recommendations for energy savings. Those look like some fun options and they could hopefully generate some good, neighborly energy saving competition. Truthfully, a lot of what we do is based on what our peers or society does. If all (or even just many) residents of a neighborhood or area used this tool, and those in the back of the line greened up their act a bit, significant savings could be made and the average would improve… which could generate even more savings. Seems like a good idea.
The company is led by energy and start-up expert Martha Amram and consumer-marketing expert Steven Ashby. Ennovationz’ offerings are all free to the consumer.
