I think that most people today would say that their life is stressful; they are too stressed. For the most part, I think there are a few key reasons this could be.
1) Too Much to DO: Some of us have a tendency to take on too much; we have a large sense of responsibility. We must realize that we are only one person. We are not going to do everything ourselves and we are NEVER going to be able to do all the things that we see need to be done. It is like trying to go and sweep the desert — this world has a neverending supply of ‘things that need to be done.’
We have to realize that one of our key responsibilities in life is to take care of ourselves, and we need to cut down on our self-prescribed responsibilities.
2) Too Much to BUY: This is not just for the obviously greedy. Many of us have a lot of expectations for what we ‘need’ that are really unwarranted. Take a look at what you actually need. Take a look at what you actually need in order to be happy (or ‘happier’).
Cut down the incessant ‘I want’ list. You can do it. Really, you can.
3) Not Doing What We Love / Doing Something We Hate: Seriously, a lot of people are in this boat… but that doesn’t mean you need to be.
Not happy with what you’re doing? Change it! Change it.
Now, if you have no idea what you want to do, or if you keep changing and changing and changing what you are doing and keep ending up unhappy, perhaps it’s time to do some soul searching. In the end, that’s actually what we all need!
