If you live in Wisconsin, I’d highly recommend that you do your best to get your friends, family members, and strangers on the street to go to the polls and vote for Tammy Baldwin. Tammy has a repertoire of great qualities and policies that should earn her a seat in the Senate, but for brevity’s sake, I’ll just highlight a few here:
Education
Tammy is a clear supporter of education, a top key to any nation, state, or city being successful and achieving a high quality of life. “Tammy sponsored legislation to improve access to early learning and child care programs,” Tammy’s “Investing in Our Future” page notes. “She has supported high standards in schools and measures that encourage accountability while providing states more flexibility to improve student achievement. With the right investments, we can keep more teachers in classrooms, reduce class sizes — why Tammy supported emergency K-12 funding included in the Recovery Act, a law that saved or created approximately 286,000 jobs in public schools across the country, helping thousands of children.” That’s really just the start.
Economic Security
Tammy also supported the important but GOP-blocked Buffet Rule, which would have gotten millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share. Additionally: “Shortly after she was first elected to Congress, at a time when both parties were supporting de-regulation of the financial industry, Tammy stood up for Wisconsin taxpayers. She voted against letting Wall Street and the big banks write their own rules — one of only a handful of members of Congress who voted no on repealing the Glass-Steagall Act.”
Retirement Security
On the important topic of retirement security, Tammy is not looking to sell your retirement to the highest bidder. “When it comes to Social Security benefits, Tammy is committed to protecting them — not privatizing them — just as she is committed to preserving and strengthening Medicare, not ending it as we know it.”
There are plenty more reasons to vote vor Tammy Baldwin today or tomorrow. Make sure to vote and to get others to the polls!
Note: no, I have no affiliation to Ms Baldwin and this post is simply a labor of love in support of one of the few politicians I greatly support.
