Generally, I try to keep an eye on the most popular Google searches in the U.S. For one, I think this is important for my job, to see if something I’m interested in is hot at the moment (and why) or to find out about something important I might have missed in my normal news channels. Additionally, doing so just gives me an idea of what’s happening or what’s popular at the moment, in general.
And, occasionally, doing so opens my eyes to connections others might not be making.
Now, I don’t know if this is one such connection, or if I’m reading into things too much…. Checking the top searches a few moments ago, “solar panels” was a hot search. I am the director of one of the leading cleantech (especially solar energy and wind energy) sites on the internet, our sister site CleanTechnica, and I have to admit that for a handful of reasons I’m actually 3 or so days behind on checking on the most current news in our field, so maybe I have missed something really hot regarding solar panels and will find out about it soon. However, another possibility that has crossed my mind is that a whole bunch of people are considering buying dad solar panels for Father’s Day.
Whether this is true or not, it seems like a perfect Father’s Day gift. Generally, dads love technology, love saving money (and solar panels on your roof are one of the best ways to do so!), and solar panels are just plain cool.
Is this why so many people are search “solar panels” right now?
Solar power growth has exploded in the U.S. as a result of dropping solar costs, great government incentives, and the clear green bonus points of going solar. This would be absolutely no surprise to me.
