Here’s a full repost of the latest news regarding Turkey’s high-speed rail network, which we covered a month ago or so here on EcoLocalizer, via World Bulletin:
Nearly 100 high-speed train stations will be built across Turkey for accommodation of high-speed trains.
The train stations will be presented to auction with build-operate-transfer model.
At least three new high-speed train stations will be constructed in capital Ankara. After Ankara-Konya high-speed train begins trips, a tender will be held to build a station in central Anatolian province of Konya.
Transportation Ministry pursues test drives in Ankara-Konya high-speed train line, while activities are under way to build high-speed lines between Ankara-Sivas, Istanbul-Sivas, Ankara-Afyonkarahisar, Ankara-Izmir, Ankara-Bursa, Sivas-Erzincan-Erzurum-Kars and Halkali-Bulgaria.
Construction of the stations will begin after high-speed train projects are implemented in these cities.
Turkey’s first high-speed train started operating on Ankara-Eskisehir route on March 13, 2009.
