Plastic: Infographic and Action to Fight It

Plastic bag bans are becoming more and more popular, spreading from California to India (or India to California) and many places in between. The latest plastic bag bans I’ve heard of are in:

  1. Milpitas, California
  2. Los Angeles
  3. Portland, Oregon
  4. Mexico City
  5. Rajasthan, the largest state in India

Additionally, the European Union has been looking into a ban as of late. (For more info on plastic bag bans, check out the Plastic Bag Ban Report.)

This is all great news, but many might wonder: “Why? What’s so bad about plastic anyway?” Well, plastic has a lot of downsides – it harms the harm body (and more and more humans and babies have significant levels of plastic inside their bodies), kills wildlife (including tons of marine life), and hurts ecosystems…. We now have the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and the Great Atlantic Ocean Garbage Patch, as well as many more ocean garbage patches and plastic garbage patches on land.

Plastic has helped humankind in a number of ways, but it’s also become a menace, and we use it for things it is completely unnecessary for.

This awesome infographic below delves into a number of stunning facts concerning plastic, some of its consequences, and how to reduce the amount of plastic you bring into this world. (CLICK TO ENLARGE)
